THEprinceOFbeatz BIOGRAPHY:

Humphrey Themen was born the 17th of April 1980. Humphrey is better known as THEprinceOFbeatz, an upcoming producer/DJ from Amsterdam. He was raised in a household where all kinds of music were constantly playing. His brother was a break-dancer and producer from which he learned the basics of producing. When he turned 18 his interest for producing evolved. He started working on his brother’s equipment, Technics SL1200, MPC60, Roland W30 and Cubase”. Nowadays he makes use of equipment and software such as the MPC 2000XL,Novation SL, Logic pro and the Digi002. At first he took producing as a hobby, but it was after all the positive feedback he received, he started taking it more serious. He is inspired by the greats like J Dilla, Pharrell Williams and Quincy Jones.

In 2002 Humphrey signed up for the audio engineering course at the SAE institute in Amsterdam. Here is where he learned to record, arrange, edit and mix music. He finished this course with success and he instantly started giving workshops at Club Jaco to the promising youths of the city. There was a semi-professional studio present where he could easily polish his newly learned skills by recording and mixing various projects for the youths. Till this day he is still active at Club Jaco working on projects to stimulate and mentor aspiring young musicians.

At the start of 2008 he linked up with his good friend Rowan Houtsnee and they decided to start their own label called “StylzMatic Music”. They signed their first artist by the name of “KaliBwoy.
Within a short period of time they helped make KaliBwoy’s name rise in Holland and all over the world. In December of last year KaliBwoy won “de Grote Prijs Van Nederland (Hip-Hop)” This is the first time this price has been won by a Reggae/Dancehall artist. At present day KaliBwoy is no longer signed to the label but they still collaborate on various projects.


About 2 years ago he also started working on his DJ skills. DJ-ing was always a hidden passion he had besides producing music. He teamed up with his good friend Thijs (TYE) and they started developing their skills.
After a while they released a mix tape called “Love Come Down”(2009) as a DJ Duo (FREE&TYE). This mix tape helped them get various DJ gigs. Starting with every last Friday at Club Up (PoesPas) and following every last Thursday at Jimmy Woo (Knock Knock).
In February of 2010 they released their second DJ mix called “Flyness and Shyness”. Following this release they started there own event (lounge/party) at the MiniBar named “B|eat|s”. With a couple of solo gigs he also added Club Home and Club Rain to his list of hot spots he has shown his DJ skills. All these venues are located in the center of Amsterdam.

Last year (19/4/2010) he released his album “Music Visionary” on to the Internet as a free download. This album cannot be categorized in any particular genre. It’s a versatile album with all music composed and produced by THEprinceOFbeatz. The power of Dance, Hip-Hop, R’n’B, Reggae/Dancehall and more are combined inside this eclectic album.
This collection of tracks showcases the fact that he can adapt to a variety of musical styles. Some of the artists who contributed their values are Ash-lee, Maikal X, Cinnamon Brown, Ollie and many more.

At present day THEprinceOFbeatz is working on a new DJ mix as well as more production work with various artists such as, Spec Boogie (US), Zanillya, JahOfYork (US), Rebekka Ling, KaliBwoy, Cinnamon Brown and Leslie Ebony (US).
He is also Spec Boogie’s official tour DJ in Europe. They’ve already performed together in France, Germany, England and of course the Nederlands. Opening up for KRS One, Pete Rock & SL Smooth, Jaguar Wright and GZA (Wu tang). And there’s a lot more to come.

This music lover is a very motivated and productive man working on his musical future. Humphrey says: “I intent to think outside of the box and try to inspire all producers And DJ’s to do the same. Dare to take a risk when it concerns making music!”
